Japanese government has created guidelines for “personal data trust banks”, organisations that could facilitate trusted sharing of personal data under people’s permission. The federation of Japanese IT-associations manages the certification system for data banks and the first certified data banks were announced in July 2019. This government initiative and the certification system has boosted the development of new services and tools like personal data stores. This session will cover the overall picture of the Japanese data banking market including the detailed description of the certificating system and several examples of companies developing the data banking services.
