The workshop is a follow up on the panel session The Future of Human Agency – Honoring Children’s Data to Save Ourselves, hosted by John C Havens.

Beyond the necessity to follow GDPR or other regulations, how can the MyData community and policy makers alike prioritize the safety and agency of the world’s kids?

Current and future generations won’t know a world without digital or virtual versions of themselves and their friends. How can we harness all the amazing technologies available today (AI, AR, VR) to increase kid’s wellbeing, education, and opportunities while still providing them a safe space to grow and develop?

In this workshop, attendees will learn how we can step up as data experts, parents and caregivers to let kids be kids without needing to fear being tracked or having their data used in harmful ways. Featuring experts from IEEE, 5Rights, and UNICEF, we’ll explore the latest regulation around children’s data and craft a set of principles based on existing legislation for all MyData attendees to sign as a Declaration showing our priority to let kids be kids.
